		<description>We shouldn&#039;t forget the complicity of the Duke trustees, also; who backed Brodhead and whose  chairman (Robert K.&quot;Wachovia&quot; Steel) said that &quot;it wouldn&#039;t be a big problem&quot; if the accused were convicted, because &quot;the appeals court could eventually straighten out any problems&quot; (after, presumably, the accused has served several years in prison). From a PR standpoint, there was no upside to supporting the lax players and considerable downside to criticizing their accuser. (And what university isn&#039;t worth sacrificing a few innocent students for? sarc/off)</description>
